Day 1:

Costa Rica Extreme’s primary guide, an expert on all the flora and fauna of Costa Rica as well as the many activities that await you, will accompany you throughout your excursion serving as Trip Leader, companion, and facilitator.
We will drive through the Turrialba Valley along a scenic road surrounded by sweeping valleys and rolling hills and the towering Turrialba volcano. Known as the door to the Atlantic, this piece of paradise will take you out of the Central Valley and into the lowlands of the Caribbean.
The Pejibaye River in the Turrialba Valley is well known for its clean water coming from one of our biggest mountain ranges running freely without pollution through a protected rain forest. The river features many Class II and III rapids amidst the beautiful scenery of its many canyons, providing a perfect river experience. A Delicious lunch will be prepared by our guides along one of the beautiful river banks.
Once out of the river you will move to your base, either at a mountaintop lodge with sweeping views or at an elegant and intimate lodge nestled in the very center of the Valley.

Day 2:

After a traditional Costa Rican breakfast with gallo pinto, we will continue our exploration of the area’s fertile farmlands, rustic scenery and large acreages of coffee, sugar cane and macadamia nuts.
Our travels will take us to the La Marta Biological Reserve, where you will have the choice of riding in our transport or on horseback across the many natural trails and impressive green fields. While you are enjoying the ride, you will immediately notice the warmth and kindness of the people in this little town. Once we get to La Marta we will discover various hiking trails that lead us into the jungle and the variety of animals and plants that inhabit it.
This afternoon we will dine at a local restaurant in town and spend the afternoon visiting downtown Turrialba, the center of this very Costa Rican area.

Day 3:

Our last day in Turrialba area may prove to be our most exciting yet. Shortly after breakfast we will go to lush tropical area where we will have exclusive use of our friend’s private canyoning park. You will experience an unforgettable adrenaline rush as you zip across four canopy cables through the forest, rappel down four waterfalls and gingerly walking across a 132 foot long suspension bridge.
Alternatively, you can immerse yourself in the verdant flora of the botanical garden tour at the CATIE campus, a scientific and educational institution. The Botanical Garden maintains nearly 4,400 genetic samples that represent more than 280 species from all over the world.
Your adventure ends as we part company back at your hotel or lodge at the end of the day.
